I have recently been offered a job at a commercial real estate brokerage firm in NYC, and I am trying to figure out either, what to expect or what questions to ask. Should I expect a draw, will it be salary based + commission or 100% commission based. What kind of benefits should I ask about? Also, how should I go about asking these questions with out being out of line or seeming presumptuous?

  • the kid:

Real Estate, even commercial, is generally commission only and as an independent contractor. So commission only, no benefits.

u did not volunteer if you were to work as a licensed agent or as a research specialist/clerk
    if agent, zero benefits/salary

if the latter, 15-50k a year
    and full benefits

  • Landlord:

Agents are commission only, no salary at all, and you may need to pay a monthly desk fee. You supply your own benefits too.

If you are a secretary it depends on experience and how many people you will be serving, 12-15 an hour, plus standard benefits.
